Photo Highlights: Split, Croatia 2012

After Florence, I took a ferry from Ancona over to Split in Croatia. I roamed about the old town and Diocletian’s palace. The Temple of Jupiter was a bit hard to find, maybe partly because it was closed when I got there (but there was a gap in the chained/locked door, so I managed to sneak my iPhone in to steal shots). Photo Highlights: Venice, Italy 2012

Since I haven’t been keeping my photo gallery up-to-date, I thought I’d post highlights of my travels instead. Here’s Venice in early Oct, 2012. I liked Venice a lot more than Florence or Rome, because I enjoy exploring small, quaint places on foot, and loved the total absence of cars. The Dragon and the Stars—Aurora Award Winner

The Dragon and the Stars has won Canada’s 2011 Prix Aurora Award in the category of Best English Related Work. Here’s a picture of the editors, Derwin Mak and Eric Choi, accepting the award. The anthology features sci-fi and fantasy stories written by ethnic Chinese authors living in various countries, and includes an introduction by bestselling novelist, Tess Gerritsen. Although I did not personally win anything, I’m thrilled to be a part of this anthology. If you wrote me a message using my contact form and never received a personal reply, please don’t be mad. Most unfortunately, I did not get your message. Yes, I know you got an auto-response and form reply telling you your message was “successfully sent”, but I didn’t actually get your email. I just discovered this breakdown in mail delivery, and after hours of troubleshooting, I managed to get it working again.
